4 NC State Players have Won NBA Championships

Last night, the Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA Title, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals.

Four former NC State players have gone on to be NBA Champions, with Josh Powell being the only one to win more than one.

Josh Powell – 2009 & 10 (Lakers)
Chuck Nevitt – 1985 (Lakers)
Chucky Brown – 1995 (Houston)
John Richter – 1960 (Celtics)

NC State’s DJ Horne Signs a Summer League Deal with the San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs have signed NC State’s DJ Horne to their NBA Summer League team.

Horne earned 2nd Team All-ACC honors with the Wolfpack this year, averaging 16.9 points per game. He shot 40.4% from three, and broke NC State’s record for most three-pointers in a single season.

NC State’s DJ Burns Signs a NBA Summer League Deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed NC State’s DJ Burns to a Summer League deal.

Burns averaged 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the Wolfpack this year, shooting 53.1% from the field. He was named the ACC Tournament MVP, leading NC State to their first ACC Championship since 1987. In the ACC Tourney, Burns averaged 15.2 points per game over the 5 games, shooting an absurd 62.7% from the field.

After averaging 18.25 points in the 4 games that led the Pack to the Final Four, shooting 67.4% from the field, Burns was named the Most Outstanding Player in the South Region of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Burns lost 45 pounds in rapid speed after the conclusion of the season to prepare himself for this moment. You can read about that here and here.
