WATCH: Getting to Know NC State’s Brandon Huntley-Hatfield

Published

on

NC State Men’s Basketball is releasing videos helping fans get to know the new players on the 2024-25 roster.

Below is the video of Louisville Transfer Forward/Center Brandon Huntley-Hatfield (6’10″/235), with a transcript underneath.

Transcript

“My name is Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. I’m a transfer from the University of Louisville. On the court, I’m a man of discipline. A player of discipline. A player of precision and aggression. There’s nothing I feel like I’m uncapable of doing. I just have to work on it every day, and envision myself doing it.”

“I want to be a winner. I want to be a great teammate. I want to be who God called me to be.”

“I create my own shot. I can create more opportunities for our team offensive rebounding. I’m not just a guy who wants to score a lot of points. I understand there’s other aspects of the game, such as rebounding, defending, and communicating. I really just try to be a “do it all” guy, making sure I’m playing hard at all times.”

“Practices have been good. Everyone has really put in the work to hone their skills to prepare for next season. So really, it’s just getting around those guys and building that camaraderie. It’s been amazing.”

“You’re probably, more than likely, not going to see me smile like this. You will, if we win, or if it’s something crazy, or whatever. I like to make sure I’m even-keeled on the court. You’re going to expect a player who is going to play hard every night for you, for our team, and for my family as well. I’m going to do whatever it takes to win. Go Wolfpack!”

_______

Huntley-Hatfield chose to run with the Wolfpack over a Final-4 that included UCONN, Louisville and Pitt. He took an Official Visit to Raleigh this past weekend. Huntley-Hatfield was scheduled to take an Official Visit to Pitt in 2 weeks, but that is obviously cancelled now.

Huntley-Hatfield is a 2-year starter at Louisville, starting in all 32 games for the Cardinals this season. He averaged 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds this year as a Junior, shooting 56.7% from the field.

Originally, Huntley-Hatfield committed to Tennessee, as a 5-star prospect in the Volunteer’s 2021 recruiting class. 247Sports and ESPN both ranked him as a 5-star prospect, with the latter ranking him as the #21 overall player nationally. 247Sports ranked him as the #1 player in the state of Pennsylvania.

After playing 35 games, starting 12, for Tennessee as a Freshman, Huntley-Hatfield transferred to Louisville.

Huntley-Hatfield has one more year of eligibility.

WATCH: Getting to Know NC State’s Marcus Hill

NC State Men’s Basketball is releasing videos helping fans get to know the new players on the 2024-25 roster.

Below is the video of Bowling Green Transfer Guard Marcus Hill (6’4″/185), with a transcript underneath.

“Hey, my name is Marcus Hill, and I’m a transfer from Bowling Green State University. Coach Kareem (Richardson) called me probably like the 2nd day I hit the Portal, and was showing interest even when they were in March Madness. They just kept talking to me. Coach Keatts was calling me a lot, showing a lot of interest. That’s big for a Head Coach to call you a lot like that.

Once I got on the visit, it was great vibes and jokes. I was a little quiet, but they got it out of me. It was family vibes. Toward the end, I knew I was probably going to commit. Definitely before I committed, I was watching the play style, and I wanted to play free, get into the lane, get my teammates open. Scoring, that’s my second thing, but I feel like I can get my teammates open.

I’m going to give my all to try to win a championship. Trying to win, win, win, and keep having a winning culture.”

_______

This past season, Hill averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for the Falcons. He earned 1st Team All-MAC honors. Even though he was only at Bowling Green one season, he had one of the best seasons in school history, scoring 698 points, which ranks 5th all-time in program history for a single season.

For his first two years of collegiate ball, Hill played for Southern Union State College (JUCO) in Alabama. In 2022-23, Hill earned 3rd Team NJCAA All-American honors, and ranked as the #32 overall Junior College prospect.

247Sports ranks Hill as a 4-Star Transfer Prospect, and the #98 overall player in the Transfer Portal, and the #18 Shooting Guard.

Hill committed to NC State on April 25th. He has 1 year of eligibility remaining.
