NC State Safety Jakeen Harris Enters Transfer Portal

NC State Safety Jakeen Harris is entering the Transfer Portal, making him the 10th Wolfpack player to do so.

This one shocks me. Harris was NC State’s starting Free Safety to start this season, but suffered a season ending injury in the season opener against UCONN. In Harris’ absence, Sean Brown stepped up, and emerged as a tremendous run stuffer at Free Safety. Devan Boykin was the starter at Strong Safety from beginning to end. Bishop Fitzgerald stepped in as a rotational Safety at both positions. Brown, Fitzgerald and Boykin all have the ability to return in 2024.

Beyond those three, Safetey is a position that NC State has quality young depth at.

With all that being said, the loss of Harris isn’t a small one. He played in 29 games over 5 seasons, tallying 80 tackles, 3 interceptions and 8 pass breakups, and he was a starter in a good chunk of those games.

Harris will have 1 year to play his final year of eligibility.
