NC State Redshirt Freshman Linebacker Daejuan Thompson announced today that he is entering the Transfer Portal
Thompson was a 4-star prospect (ON3) in the Wolfpack’s 2022 recruiting class, out of Whiteville, North Carolina. He played in 4 games on Special Teams in 2022, but only saw action in 1 game this season as a Redshirt Freshman, also on Special Teams.
Obviously, Thompson was buried on the depth chart this year, but so was everyone else whose last name wasn’t Wilson, Betty, Scott and Fordham. With Scott and Wilson gone, it’s a little shocking to watch Thompson enter the portal, but such is College Football in the world of the Transfer Portal.
Thompson is now the 6th NC State player to enter the Transfer Portal. Running Backs Jordan Houston and Michael Allen, and Defensive Back Darius Edmundson prior to today, and Thompson joins Wide Receiver Anthony Smith and Tight End Christopher Toudle, who entered today.
It’s amazing that when the team sucks you lose players, then when the team is doing well you lose more players. Something needs to be done with this transfer portal mess.
