NC State QB MJ Morris Enters Transfer Portal

on

After MJ Morris announced he would be redshirting midseason after leading NC State to victories over Miami and Clemson, in my opinion, his only option was to eventually enter the Transfer Portal. Even though the initial messaging communicated there wasn’t a plan to leave the program, returning didn’t make any sense, for a variety of reasons. Well, no one needs to wonder or speculate any longer whether Morris would in fact return, or even be allowed to return, because he just announced he is entering the Transfer Portal.

Morris played in 9 games over 2 seasons, starting in 6 of those games. He passed for 1,367 yards and 14 touchdowns (6 interceptions), completing 58% of his passes.

Morris was a 4-star prospect in the Wolfpack’s 2022 recruiting class, out of Georgia. Rivals ranked him as the #238 overall player nationally in the 2022 class. He will have three years to play his three remaining years of eligibility.

NC State will be actively looking for a quarterback or two in the Portal, and would have been doing so whether he stayed or not.

NC State has had 11 players enter the Transfer Portal

Jakeen Harris
TE Cedd Seabrough
WR Porter Rooks
DB Nate Evans
LB Daejuan Thompson
RB Jordan Houston
RB Michael Allen
DB Darius Edmundson
WR Anthony Smith
TE Christopher Toudle

At least this frees Doreen’s hand to go after a QB. May need to work fast though.
