Former NC State Running Back Delbert Mimms III Commits to Eastern Michigan

Former NC State Running Back Delbert Mimms III announced yesterday that he will be playing for Eastern Michigan in his final year of eligibility in 2024.

Mimms will be joining former Wolfpack Wide Receiver Porter Rooks, who also committed to Eastern Michigan out of the Transfer Portal this offseason.

This past season, Mimms had the best season of his collegiate career, rushing for 289 yards (2.9 yards per carry) and 8 touchdowns. Believe it or not, in Mimms three prior seasons on the field in Raleigh, he had never rushed for a touchdown. He changed that tune in a big way in 2023.

Mimms was a 3-star prospect in the Wolfpack’s 2019 recruiting class out of Indianapolis. 247Sports ranked him as the #19 overall player in the state of Indiana in the 2019 recruiting class. This move definitely gets Mimms closer to home for his final year of college ball.

Here’s a rundown of where players that have transferred from NC State have landed:

RB Delbert Mimms III – Eastern Michigan
WR Josh Crabtree – Murray St.
DB Cecil Powell – Troy
DB Nate Evans – Delaware
WR Christopher Scott – Austin Peay
S Jakeen Harris – UNC
RB Michael Allen – UNLV
WR Anthony Smith – East Carolina
TE Christopher Toudle – Western Michigan
NT CJ Clark – Miami
QB MJ Morris – Maryland
WR Terrell Timmons – Colorado
WR Porter Rooks – Eastern Michigan
LB Torren Wright – Temple
