Former NC State Quarterback MJ Morris has found his new home, announcing today that he will be transferring to Maryland.
Morris played in 9 games over 2 seasons at NC State, starting in 6 of those games. He passed for 1,367 yards and 14 touchdowns (6 interceptions), completing 58% of his passes.
He was a 4-star prospect in the Wolfpack’s 2022 recruiting class, out of Georgia. Rivals ranked Morris as the #238 overall player nationally in the 2022 class. He will have three years to play his three remaining years of eligibility.
If Morris was looking to transfer somewhere where he would be guaranteed a starting job, I doubt that will be the case in Maryland. He will compete with Cameron Edge and Billy Edwards Jr. for the job. Edge will be a Redshirt Sophomore in 2024, and was rated as a 4-Star prospect by Rivals and ESPN. Rivals ranked Edge as the #20 QB in the 2022 recruiting class, and the #1 player in the state of Delaware. Edwards will be a Redshirt Junior next year, and was a 3-star prospect out of the state of Virginia.
Here’s a rundown of where players that have transferred from NC State have landed:
QB MJ Morris – Maryland
WR Terrell Timmons – Colorado
WR Porter Rooks – Eastern Michigan
LB Torren Wright – Temple
Who cares what the quitter does?
