Former NC State Wide Receiver Anthony Smith announced his commitment to East Carolina this morning.
Smith announced he would be entering the Transfer Portal on November 27th.
He played in 10 games this season, but only caught 2 passes for 19 yards, with both of those catches coming in the final three games. He was originally a 3-Star prospect in the Pack’s 2020 recruiting class, out of Huntingtown, Maryland.
Due to his height and speed, heading into almost every season since he arrived in Raleigh, there has been an expectation that Smith might break out. Unfortunately, it never happened, though Doeren shared that Smith has worked hard this season to get himself in the mix at seasons end.
Over 4 seasons, Smith played in 34 games, catching 13 passes for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns. Due to the wiping away of the Covid Season (2020), and redshirting last season, Smith has two years to play his final two years of eligibility.
Here’s a rundown of where players that have transferred from NC State have landed:
WR Anthony Smith – East Carolina
TE Christopher Toudle – Western Michigan
NT CJ Clark – Miami
QB MJ Morris – Maryland
WR Terrell Timmons – Colorado
WR Porter Rooks – Eastern Michigan
LB Torren Wright – Temple
