After the conclusion of the 2024 College World Series, Baseball America has released their Final 2024 Top-25 rankings, and NC State landed at #7.

Former NC State Pitcher Chance Mako has transferred to Coastal Carolina.

Mako entered the Transfer Portal on June 17th.

He was one of the most highly touted Freshman in their 2024 Recruiting class last year, which D1Baseball ranked 5th nationally. He participated in the 2023 MLB Combine last summer. Mako was ranked as the #161 overall prospect in the 2023 MLB Draft by MLB.com, but didn’t hear his name called. Coming out of High School, Mako was a Top-75 prospect in his class.

Mako made only two appearances in relief this season (2/28 & 3/12), giving up 4 earned runs in 1.1 innings, striking out 1. He has 4 years of eligibility remaining.

The 2024 College World Series has come to an end, with Tennessee defeating Texas A&M, winning their first ever National Championship in Baseball. The 2024 College World Series All-Tournament Team has been announced, and NC State Senior 3rd Baseman Alec Makarewicz earned a spot.

Makarewicz 3 for 9 in his 2 games in the World Series, with 4 RBI’s, 2 Runs, 2 Home Runs and 1 Walk.

A-Mak had one of the best offensive seasons in NC State history. He finished with the most Total Bases ever in a single season, with the 4th most Home Runs & Doubles. He earned All-American honors from ABCA/Rawlings & Baseball America.

NC State Junior Outfielder Chase Nixon is entering the Transfer Portal.

Nixon played in 39 games (out of 61), starting in 29. He hit .255 with 14 RBI’s and 11 Runs. Nixon’s OBP was .402.

Heading into the 2024 season, Nixon had a chance to battle for a starting spot, after starting in 18 of the 32 games he played in as a Sophomore. In 2023, Nixon hit .319, with an OBP of .402, and an OPS of .916. The way things panned out, Josh Hogue, Eli Serrano III & Noah Soles nabbed the starting jobs. Even when Hogue went down, Chase’s younger brother Luke was moved from the infield to the outfield.

Unfortunately, the Nixon boys won’t be on the same team for a second year.
