NC State has Middle Tennessee transfer forward Torey Alston (6’9”, 220 pounds) on its radar, recently holding a Zoom call with the North Carolina native this week, according to Cory Smith.

As of today, players in the Transfer Portal are officially allowed to take visits, so the next step will be whether that conversation turns into Alston making his way to Raleigh.

Alston is coming off a strong sophomore season with Middle Tennessee, where he averaged 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 55.5% from the field. He earned Third Team All-Conference USA honors this season after being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team the year prior.

He was a major difference-maker for the Blue Raiders, leading the team in rebounds while ranking second in both scoring and blocks. Alston started all 32 games this season.

NC State isn’t alone in the pursuit. Michigan State, Wake Forest, and Houston are all actively recruiting Alston as well.

A North Carolina native, Alston is originally from Durham and played his high school basketball at Winston-Salem Christian School.

Both 247Sports and On3 rate Alston as a 3-star transfer prospect. On3 ranks him as the No. 182 overall player in the portal and the No. 45 power forward, while 247Sports has him at No. 203 overall and No. 39 at his position.
