NC State landed a verbal commitment from Moses Barker today, the No. 1 place kicker in the 2027 recruiting class.

Not only is Barker the top-ranked kicker in America, but he’s also a local product and lifelong Wolfpack fan.

Local Kid. Dream School.

The heralded place kicker plays right down the road from NC State at Willow Spring High School and grew up as a die-hard Wolfpack fan.

That always matters.

There’s just something different about landing elite in-state talent that genuinely wants to wear the Red and White.

Recruitment Moved FAST

NC State only offered Barker on May 15th.

Later that same day?

Iowa Hawkeyes football offered him too.

At that point, Barker’s offer list included:

Air Force
Army
Navy
Cincinnati
Wofford
Iowa
NC State

And despite the late push from other programs, Barker quickly chose the Wolfpack.

Official Visit Already Scheduled

Before committing, Barker had already scheduled an Official Visit to NC State for June 12-14.

Clearly, the relationship with the staff accelerated quickly behind the scenes.

Now the Pack has its specialist commitment locked in early.

NC State’s History of Elite Kickers

NC State has produced a handful of All-American place kickers.

Most recently, Christopher Dunn became:

Consensus First Team All-American (2022)
Three-time All-ACC selection

The Wolfpack has also produced:

Marc Primanti – Consensus First Team All-American (1996)
Steve Videtich – All-American (1994)
Gerald Warren – All-American (1967 & 1968)

The Next Great Wolfpack Kicker?

Specialists don’t always dominate recruiting headlines, but elite kickers absolutely swing games.

One reliable leg can completely change a season.

Now NC State hopes the hometown Wolfpack fan becomes the next great kicker in program history.
