Today on Pack Mentality, Hayden Hidlay made it official that he will be coming back to wrestle for State. He will be heading from 157, up to 174.
In a complete breakdown of his National Championships performance (Listen Here), Hidlay describes the emotions involved in the final matches. From feeling completely drained during weight cuts, to the anger of falling short at Nationals, to the excitement and pride of watching his brother make it to the Finals.
Hidlay, to this point, has been nothing short of amazing for the Pack. With a record of 113-11, he has placed top-5 in each of his three NCAA Championship performances. ACC Wrestler of the Year in 2020, four-time First-Team and ACC Champion. All years were at 157 weight class.
The biggest reason for his return to State, is to wrestle with his brother, Trent. You could tell from the interview, the level of love he feels for him and how badly he wants Trent to win. Another interesting tidbit was Hayden stating he’s never been able to weight train properly, because he was constantly worried about staying at 157.
