RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman Patrick Bailey recorded the first multi-home run game of his collegiate career to lead the fifth-ranked NC State baseball team to a 5-0 win against the William & Mary Tribe Friday evening at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Four different NC State pitchers combined to shut out the Tribe, striking out 10 batters and the staff did not issue a walk in the game.

NC State moves to 32-12 on the year, while William & Mary falls to 15-30. Reid Johnston picked up the win and remains unbeaten with a 7-0 record to tie for the ACC lead in wins, while Tribe starter Bodie Sheehan took the loss (2-7).

Quick Hits
– Bailey put NC State on top early with a solo homer over the left field wall in the second inning to give the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead. He has now homered in three of his last five games.

– Following a single by Josh McLain and a pair of walks to load the bases, the Pack pushed across its second run of the contest on a sacrifice fly to right field by Evan Edwards.
– NC State extended the lead to 3-0 in the sixth after Shane Shepard pinch-hit with runners at second and third and hit a sharp ground ball to the right side, but a nice defensive play took away a base hit and he settled for an RBI groundout as Bailey scored.
– Bailey led off the eighth inning with a solo homer over the right field wall to stretch the Wolfpack’s advantage to 4-0 on his ninth round-tripper to lead all freshmen in the ACC. He tallied his first multi-homer game and homered from both sides of the plate.

– The Greensboro, N.C., native is the fifth NC State player to homer twice in a game this season.
– After singles from Stephen Pitarra and Brad Debo, Terrell Tatum hit a pinch-hit single to right field to plate Pitarra and extend the NC State lead to 5-0.

Inside the Box Score
– Bailey led the Wolfpack at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, highlighted by a pair of solo home runs and three runs scored.
– Brock Deatherage and Pitarra also recorded multi-hit outings, while Jack Conley, Debo, McLain and Tatum each had one hit.
– McLain extended his reached base safely streak to 13 games in the contest, while Edwards saw his streak come to a close.

On the Mound
– Johnston delivered another strong start for the Pack, as he went 5.2 innings and struck out five batters en route to his team-leading seventh win.
– Nolan Clenney relieved him and pitched an inning and two-thirds with three strikeouts before handing the ball to Kent Klyman, who threw an inning.
– Freshman David Harrison pitched the ninth and struck out a batter.
