NC State Redshirt Senior Running Back Jordan Waters has the 8th best odds to lead the ACC in Rushing Yards in 2024.

Last season, Waters finished 11th in the ACC with 819 rushing yards, trailing the 2023 ACC Rushing Champ, UNC’s Omarion Hampton, by 685 yards.

For perspective, Waters split carries with Jaquez Moore last year at Duke. Waters rushed the ball 153 times, and Moore rushed the ball 116 times. All 10 of the Running Backs who rushed for more yards than Waters last year had more carries. Hampton had 100 more carries.

Will Waters be able to rush for more than 819 yards for the Wolfpack this year? I think Waters by all means has the talent and ability to rush for 1,000+ yards in 2024. The question is, whether or not he will get the ball enough times.

Even though Waters split carries last year, his 153 carries is more than any other NC State Running Back since Reggie Gallaspy rushed the ball 228 times in 2018.

Waters will be NC State’s primary running back this season, without question. With that being said, I wouldn’t bet any money that Waters will be the ACC Rushing Champion at seasons end. I simply don’t think he will run the ball enough to do so. Waters might be an X-Factor on this Wolfpack offense, but he isn’t alone. Weapons abound on NC State’s offense in 2024.
