#25 NC State (28-12/13-6) picked up a STATEment win over #2 Clemson (36-8/13-6) this evening, run-ruling the Tigers 14-4 in 8 innings in the first game of a 3-game series.

Junior Right Fielder Brayden Fraasman had one of the best games by a Wolfpack player in recent memory, going 5-for-5 with 7 RBIs, 2 runs, 2 home runs, and 1 double. Fraasman’s 7 RBIs accounted for half of the Wolfpack’s runs. He now leads NC State with 10 home runs on the year, and his batting average sits at .302.

As a team, NC State tagged Clemson for 19 hits—marking the most hits the Wolfpack has recorded in a single game this season.

Freshman Pitcher Anderson Nance continues to pass the eye test as a Freshman All-American candidate. He entered the game in the 5th inning and proceeded to pick up the win (7-1), pitching 4 shutout innings and striking out 7. Over his last three appearances, Nance has thrown 14 shutout innings with 19 strikeouts. His season stats are eye-popping, with a 2.68 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.

The Wolfpack’s first 7 batters all recorded 2+ hits this evening.

Sophomore Catcher Alex Sosa was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 runs.

Besides Fraasman, Freshman Center Fielder Ty Head was the only other NC State player with multiple RBIs, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs, a double, and a run.

Game 2 between the Wolfpack and the Tigers is set for tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
