Former Vanderbilt forward Khamil Pierre (6’2″) has signed with NC State to play basketball next season!

Prior to today, the Wolfpack had only picked up one transfer this offseason, landing UConn guard Qadence Samuels.

NC State arguably just scooped up the best available player on the market.

Pierre averaged 20.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2 steals this past season for the Commodores, shooting 49.8% from the field. As a sophomore, she earned All-American Honorable Mention honors from the WBCA in 2024-25.

In 2023-24, Pierre averaged 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Technically speaking, Pierre isn’t joining NC State via the transfer portal. She left Vanderbilt after the portal closed on April 23. If a player opts to transfer after the portal closes, they typically have to sit out a year. However, there are loopholes. For instance, if a player transfers to a new college as a student and does not have contact with the coaching staff, they can then walk on to the program and be compensated via revenue sharing. This compensation can effectively cover their scholarship and provide additional funds.

Seemingly, this is the route Pierre took to join the NC State 2025-26 women’s basketball team.

“We’re super excited to add Khamil to the Pack,” said Moore. “We had recruited her out of high school and are thankful for a second chance to work with her. She’s been a walking double-double at the Power Four level and will make an immediate impact for our program.” (GP)

Pierre has two years of eligibility remaining.

It’s hard to put into words how big of an addition this is for NC State at this point in the summer.
