According to many reports, NC State forward Ben Middlebrooks is entering the Transfer Portal.

As things currently stand, Middlebrooks does not have another year of eligibility remaining. Awhile back, we broke down what next years roster could look like, and Middlebrooks wasn’t a candidate to return in 2025-26.

Middlebrooks played 60 games over his first two seasons at Clemson before transferring to NC State, with 26 games as a freshman and 34 as a sophomore. He has played for the Wolfpack for the past two seasons, playing a key role in NC State’s 2024 ACC Championship and Final Four run. Middlerbrooks’ most memorable performance was scoring 21 points in an 80-67 win over Texas Tech in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. This season, he started 23 of NC State’s 30 games, averaging 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks.

The NCAA is currently discussing extending NCAA athletes’ eligibility to five years, rather than four. If this change were to pass soon, current players running out of eligibility would have an extra year remaining.
