Here is a look at the last time certain passing milestones were accomplished in a game by a NC State player:

The last time…

A player passed for 300+ yards: Jacoby Brissett (359) vs. Florida St. 9/27/14

A player passed for 400+ yards: Mike Glennon (493) vs. Clemson 11/17/12

A player passed for 500+ yards: Shane Montgomery (535) at Duke 11/11/89

A player passed for four or more touchdowns: Brandon Mitchell (4) vs. East Carolina 11/23/13

A player threw a 50+ yard touchdown: Jacoby Brissett to Bo Hines (54) vs. Florida St. 9/27/14

A player threw a 50+ yard non-touchdown pass: Brandon Mitchell to Quintin Payton (54) vs. Maryland 11/30/13

A player had 30 completions: Jacoby Brissett (32) vs. Florida St. 9/21/14

A player had 40 passing attempts: Jacoby Brissett (48) vs. Florida St. 9/21/14

A player had 60 passing attempts: Russell Wilson (60) vs. Maryland 11/2710

A player had 350+ yards of total offense: Jacoby Brissett (397 yards – 359 passing, 38 rushing) vs. Florida St. 9/21/14

The question now becomes ‘when will these milestones be accomplished next?’

Brissett is capable of throwing the ball 300, 400, and 500 yards in a game, or throwing the ball 40 or 60 times.  That’s not in question.  NC State is committed to the run game, and last season they were one of the most balanced teams offensively in the country.  If the Wolfpack is playing well, it shouldn’t be necessary for Brissett to put up these types of numbers.

One of NC State’s goals this season is to get more “chunk” plays down the field (10+ yard rush/20+ yard reception).  Doeren has been extremely complimentary of the work Brissett has put in this summer to improve his deep ball.

Four or more touchdown passes from Brissett might not be in the cards, with the Wolfpack’s commitment to the run.  NC State does play FSU, Clemson, Louisville, and Virginia Tech this season, and all of them have the ability to get out to a lead, which could require Brissett to air the ball out more.
