The 2026 MLB Draft is right around the corner, with the first round set for July 11.

We’ve already broken down the draft outlooks for Ty Head and Jacob Dudan. Today, we turn our attention to another Wolfpack arm who has plenty to think about over the next couple of weeks: starting pitcher Ryan Marohn.

After another outstanding season, where does Marohn’s draft stock currently stand?

Dominant Junior Season

Marohn just wrapped up his junior season, making him draft eligible for the first time.

Before his season was cut short by injury, he established himself as one of the premier starting pitchers in the ACC.

2026 Statistics

6-1 record
3.18 ERA
62 strikeouts
22 walks
45.1 innings pitched
.204 opponent batting average
1.19 WHIP

When healthy, Marohn consistently gave NC State a chance to win every time he took the mound.

His ability to limit hard contact while missing bats made him one of the conference’s most effective starters.

Proven Track Record

Marohn’s success wasn’t limited to one season.

As a sophomore in 2025, he earned Third Team All-ACC honors after posting:

8-3 record
3.38 ERA

Putting together back-to-back standout seasons significantly strengthens his résumé entering the draft.

Current Draft Projections

Unlike Ty Head, whose draft projections have been remarkably consistent, Marohn’s evaluations vary quite a bit depending on the publication.

Current Rankings

Baseball America: No. 74
ESPN: No. 85
Perfect Game: No. 129
MLB Pipeline: No. 147

The difference between No. 74 and No. 147 illustrates just how divided evaluators are on Marohn.

Some view him as an early Day 2 selection, while others believe he’ll come off the board several rounds later.

Could Marohn Return?

That remains one of the biggest questions surrounding NC State’s roster.

If Marohn hears his name called during the early rounds on Day 2, returning to college becomes increasingly unlikely.

Even players selected in the fifth and sixth rounds often receive signing bonuses substantial enough to make beginning a professional career the obvious decision.

The exact round where Marohn is selected could ultimately determine whether Wolfpack fans see him pitch in Raleigh again.

## Final Thoughts

Ryan Marohn has done everything necessary to put himself on MLB scouts’ radar.

He’s produced at a high level for two consecutive seasons, proven himself against ACC competition, and shown the consistency teams value in starting pitchers.

Now comes the waiting game.

Whether he hears his name called in the early rounds or slides further than expected, Marohn appears poised to begin his professional career.

The only remaining question is exactly when his name comes off the board on draft weekend.
