NC State Men’s Soccer (2-1) team started off the ACC season with a bang tonight, defeating #3 Clemson 1-0 at home. Freshman Manny Perez scored the only goal of the match 7 minutes into the game, and the Wolfpack were able to defend all 5 of the Tigers shots on goal over the next 83 minutes to hold onto the lead. Perez has now scored 3 goals in his first 3 collegiate games. His 3 goals rank 4th in the ACC, and all three of his goals have been game-winning goals, which ranks 1st in the conference.
Tonights victory marks the first time that NC State has beaten Clemson since 2008.
The Wolfpack’s next match is against Longwood on Tuesday at 7pm at home.
