3-Star 2027 Safety Alex Scott (5’10″/180) verbally committed to NC State yesterday after taking an Official Visit this past weekend.

Recruiting Profile

Scott is rated as a 3-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals.

247Sports currently ranks him as:

No. 45 Safety nationally

No. 56 overall player in Georgia

The talented defensive back plays for Toombs County High School in Lyons, Georgia.

Loaded Offer List

NC State identified Scott early in the process, extending an offer on September 18.

The Wolfpack ultimately beat out a lengthy list of Power Four programs for his commitment.

His offer sheet includes:

Virginia Tech
Kentucky
Louisville
Georgia Tech
Indiana
Kansas
Kansas State
Mississippi State
Missouri
Ole Miss
Syracuse
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
And others

Scott also took an Official Visit to Louisville prior to visiting NC State and had additional Official Visits scheduled with Virginia Tech and Kentucky before shutting down his recruitment.

Productive Junior Season

During his junior season at Toombs County, he recorded:

  • 90 tackles
  • 16 tackles for loss
  • 5 pass breakups

The tackle-for-loss numbers are particularly noteworthy for a safety.

They suggest Scott is comfortable playing near the line of scrimmage and impacting the game against both the run and pass.
