This past weekend, NC State assistant basketball coach A.W. Hamilton was reportedly in attendance at the Phenom Hoops Showcase watching 5-Star 2019 Point Guard Jalen Lecque (6’4”/185), .

Lecque is the #14 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class according to ESPN, and plays for Christ School in Arden, North Carolina. He was originally part of the 2018 Class, but reclassified to the 2019 Class. NC State was at his school on September 14th to watch him, and before they left they offered him a scholarship. He has also taken unofficial visits in the past couple of months to Georgia Tech, Villanova, Saint Louis, TCU, Texas Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and Kentucky. He took an unofficial visit to Raleigh to attend Primetime With the Pack on October 20th.
Here’s what Corey Evans of Rivals had to say about him after the showcase this weekend.
1. JALEN LECQUE IS A TOP-FIVE ATHLETE IN HIGH SCHOOL BALL
It is still mind-numbing that Jalen Lecque, at this time last year, failed to boast one high-major offer. After reclassifying a year and transferring into The Christ School this fall, Lecque has grown to 6-foot-4 and is on the cusp of a blueblood recruitment. Kansas has already offered and I don’t understand why Kentucky, Duke or UNC wouldn’t begin to recruit. He is an elite athlete that is a Pogo stick at the basket. Lecque is just growing into the point guard position, but there is no denying the kid’s upside and talent level. UConn coach Kevin Ollie and assistants from N.C. State and Wake Forest were each courtside for his contest Saturday. (Rivals)
