The 12th ranked (Soccer America) NC State Women’s Soccer travelled to Philadelphia for their first road match of the season, and the Wolfpack defeated Penn 1-0, improving to 4-0-1 on the year.
NC State handed Penn their first loss of the season, bringing their record to 2-1.
Junior Forward Tziarra King scored her 4th goal of the season 13 minutes into game, and the Wolfpack were able to hold the lead for the next 77 minutes. King is now tied for the ACC lead in goals, and continues to be one of the best players in the conference.
Junior Defender Kristina Schuster and Junior Midfielder Ricarda Walkling were credited with the assist.
Junior Forward Kia Rankin actually took the most shots (6) for the Wolfpack tonight, with 3 of those being on goal.
It was truly a dominating defensive performance for the Wolfpack, not allowing a single shot on goal, while taking 6 shots of their own on Penn’s net.
Senior Goalkeeper Sydney Wooten picked up her 19th shutout of her career, which ranks 4th in NC State history.
