The writing has been on the wall for sometime now.

All-American 2019 4-Star Running Back Jamious Griffin has decommitted from NC State.

Griffin could end up at Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech with one of his brothers. He just took an Official Visit to Auburn this past weekend. Clemson is starting to creep in.

While NC State is still a possibility, my money is with Georgia Tech. It’s the hometown team, that now has a coach that doesn’t run the triple option, and it’s a dream of his to play with one of his brothers.

This is a major blow to the Wolfpack 2019 recruiting class. It’s a big blow to next season. Griffin was going to play right away. Heck, he might have won the starting job, and that’s no disrespect to Ricky Person or Zonovan Knight.

Depth will be an issue in the backfield next season for NC State. They return Sophomore Ricky Person, who when heathy, is very talented. True Freshman Zonovan Knight gives a spark of breakaway speed. Redshirt Freshman Trent Pennix picked up some experience this year, while holding onto his redshirt. Redshirt Senior Damontay Rhem earned a scholarship prior to last season.

With signing day a couple of weeks away (February 6), expect the coaching staff to find another running back, whether it be from the high school or JUCO ranks.
