NC State 2020 Football Commits Week 6 Report

The 7th weekend of high school football kicks off tonight, but before it does, here’s a rundown on how the 2020 NC State verbal commitments did in Week 6.

3-Star Safety Nehki Meredith had 8 tackles in Catholic’s 34-14 loss to St. Mary’s Ryken.

3-Star Offensive Tackle Austin Blaske had 4 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in South Effingham’s 42-28 loss to Pierce County.

3-Star Cornerback Aydan White had 2 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown on offense, and 1 tackle in Christ School’s 25-7 loss to Charlotte Latin.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Jaylen Smith had 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks in Hertford County’s 43-21 victory over East Duplin.

3-Star Offensive Guard Jonathan Adorno and his Rolesville squad beat Terry Sanford 34-28.

3-Star Linebacker Devon Betty had 4 tackles in St. Thomas Aquinas’ 45-24 victory over Carol City.

3-Star Cornerback Devan Boykin had 2 touchdown receptions in Ragsdale’s 31-18 loss to Mount Tabor.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Davin Vann had 12 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery in Cary’s 21-18 loss to Green Hope.

3-Star Quarterback Ben Finley was 18 of 26 for 421 yards and 5 touchdowns (1 interception) for a QB Rating of 135.4 in Paradise Valley’s 56-21 victory over North Canyon.

3-Star Wide Receiver Stephen Gosnell blew up for 472 all-purpose yards in East Surry’s 55-49 victory over Reidsville. Gosnell rushed the ball 11 times for 101 yards and a touchdown, caught 11 passes for 263 yards and 4 touchdowns, and threw in 108 return yards for good measure.

3-Star Tight End Ezemdi Udoh had 4 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown in Terry Sanford’s 34-28 victory over Rolesville.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Pheldarius Payne had 3 tackles and 1 QB Hurry in Lackawanna College’s 83-0 victory over Erie Community College.

4-Star WR NC State Commit Porter Rooks: Midseason Reel

4-Star Wide Receiver Porter Rooks is NC State’s highest rated player in their 2020 football recruiting class. Below is his Midseason Highlight Reel that he released earlier this week.

Through 7 games, Rooks has 25 receptions for 588 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Here’s a rundown on how the 2020 NC State verbal commitments did in Week 8.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Davin Vann had 8 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble in Cary’s 41-21 loss to Panther Creek.

3-Star Cornerback Aydan White had 1 tackle, 2 receptions for 5 yards, and a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown in Christ School’s 28-27 loss to Charlotte Christian.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Jaylen Smith had 6 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble in Hertford County’s 33-21 victory over Northeastern.

3-Star Quarterback Ben Finley had a short outing last week, after he attempted to rush for a touchdown, and dove headfirst, and was flipped in midair, taking a nasty fall.

He didn’t return for the rest of the game, finishing 3 of 7 for 62 yards in Paradise Valley’s 42-0 loss to Cactus Shadows.

3-Star Offensive Guard Jonathan Adorno and his Rolesville squad beat Wakefield 49-19.

3-Star Linebacker Devon Betty had 6 tackles in St. Thomas Aquinas’ 35-0 victory over Plantation.

3-Star Offensive Guard Sean Hill and Brookwood beat Meadowcreek 47-19.

3-Star Wide Receiver Stephen Gosnell had 3 receptions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns in East Surry’s 70-13 victory over Bishop McGuinness. He also had 1 kickoff return for 61 yards.

3-Star Tight End Ezemdi Udoh had 2 receptions for 15 yards, and 3 tackles in Terry Sanford’s 36-23 victory over Gray’s Creek.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Pheldarius Payne had 3 tackles and 2 sacks in Lackawanna’s 30-17 victory over Monroe College.

4-Star WR Micah Crowell Attended NC State’s W Over Syracuse

4-Star 2021 Wide Receiver Micah Crowell (6’2”/205) took an unofficial visit to NC State last Thursday, taking in the Wolfpack’s 16-10 victory over Syracuse.

247Sports ranks Crowell as the #93 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class, the #13 Wide Receiver and the #5 player in the state of North Carolina.

Crowell plays for East Forsyth in Kernersville.

He also took an unofficial visit to NC State in March, and picked up an offer from the Wolfpack on January 24th.

Crowell also holds offers from Duke, ECU, UNC, Oregon, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Vanderbilt.

4-Star Wide Receiver Porter Rooks had a 66-yard reception in Myers Park’s 62-7 victory over Rocky River.

3-Star Safety Nehki Meredith had 1 forced fumble and 2 rushing touchdowns in Catholic’s 28-14 loss to Fairmont Heights.

3-Star Offensive Tackle Austin Blaske and South Effingham beat Tattnall County 49-14.

3-Star Cornerback Aydan White had 4 receptions for 32 yards in Christ School’s 14-13 victory over Providence Day, and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Jaylen Smith had 9 tackles (1 for loss) and 1 forced fumble in Hertford County’s 28-14 win over Gates County.

3-Star Cornerback Devan Boykin had a 15-yard touchdown reception in Ragsdale’s 26-6 loss to Glenn.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Davin Vann had 7 tackles and 1 sack in Cary’s 29-27 loss to Riverside.

3-Star Quarterback Ben Finley had 3 touchdowns in Paradise Valley’s 38-36 loss to Desert Mountain.

3-Star Tight End Ezemdi Udoh had 4 receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown in Terry Sanford’s 49-27 victory against Overhills.

3-Star Defensive Tackle Pheldarius Payne had 2 tackles and 1 pass breakup in Lackawanna’s 17-10 victory over ASA Brooklyn.
