#17 NC State Men’s Soccer Advances to ACCT Quarterfinals

The #17 NC State Men’s Soccer team (#5 seed) defeated Duke (#12 seed) 2-1 yesterday, to advance to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament for the 2nd straight year.

Sophomore Pepe Garcia scored his 3rd goal of the season on an assist from Senior Gabriel Machado.

Sophomore Kuda Muskwe scored his 5th goal of the season on an assist from Junior David Loera. Muskwe leads the Pack in goals scored and total points in 2019.

NC State will play #4 seed Pitt on Sunday at 3pm.

Five NC State Women’s Soccer Players Earn All-ACC Honors

Five NC State Women’s Soccer players earned All-ACC honors this week, which marks a school record.

Senior Tziarra King was named to the 1st Team for the second time in her career. She becomes only the 2nd player in school history to be a 4-time All-ACC selection. King leads the ACC with 32 points and is 2nd overall with 13 goals.

Junior Kriss Schuster, Redshirt Sophomore Lulu Guttenberger and Senior Ricci Walkling earned 3rd Team honors. Guttenberger also earned a spot on the All-Freshman team last season. Walkling has now earned All-ACC honors the past three seasons to close her career. This marks the first time Guttenberger has earned All-ACC honors.

Walkling has a team high 8 assists, which ranks 4th in the ACC.

Freshman Jameese Joseph was named to the All-Freshman team. NC State has had someone on the All-Freshman team the past 4 years now.

#23 NC State Women’s Soccer Advances to Semifinals of ACCT

The #23 ranked NC State Women’s Soccer team beat #14 Louisville twice on the road within less than a week, beating the Cardinals 2-1 on Sunday in the ACC Tournament, advancing to the semifinals. The Wolfpack has advanced to the semifinals in 2 out of the last 3 seasons.

NC State took a 1-0 lead at the 54-minute mark, scoring off of this corner kick.

Then to seal the deal, Senior Tziarra King scored the game winning goal in overtime on a break away.

The goal was King’s 13th of the season, which is the team lead, and ranks 2nd in the ACC. Her 32 points on the year is tops in the conference. She scored off of an assist from Redshirt Sophomore Lulu Guttenberger.

#5 seed NC State will now play #1 seed UNC tomorrow at 5pm.

NC State Men’s Soccer Finishes Regular Season 5th in ACC, Highest Since 2005

The NC State Men’s Soccer team (8-5-3) close out the regular season ranked 5th in the ACC standings, marking the highest finish since 2005.

The Wolfpack will host the 1st round of the ACC Tournament for the 3rd straight year on Tuesday, hosting #12 seed Duke at 2pm.

The Wolfpack entered their regular season finale against #2 Clemson as the #19 team in the nation according to the most recent TopDrawerSoccer Poll.

NC State Women’s Soccer Defeated #14 Louisville, Clinched ACCT Spot

On Thursday night, the NC State Women’s Soccer team (9-5-4) defeated #14 Louisville (12-3-2) 1-0 in Raleigh to close out the regular season with ice in their veins.

Sophomore Anna Toohey picked a good time to score her first goal of the season, which came on an assist from superstar Senior Tziarra King.

The shutout was the 6th of the year for the Wolfpack.

The victory clinched an ACC Tournament birth for NC State, marking the 3rd time in 4 years.

Ironically, the Wolfpack will face the Cardinals once again, but this time it will be on the road tomorrow at 3pm.

The victory was likely enough to propel the Wolfpack ladies to the NCAA Tournament for the 4th straight year.

Prior to the victory over Louisville, the Wolfpack ranked 31st in the RPI. They have 5 wins/ties vs. ranked teams this year, and their 2 conference losses are the fewest since expansion in 2004.
