Not to be THAT Guy, but NC State was Absolutely Screwed by Refs

“Oh Vonwolf, shut up!”…”But Vonwolf, Keatts is the one that screwed it up!”…”You sound like a UNC fan!”

In all seriousness, I’m not one to go off on refs. I tend to be more the believer of, “the game has ups and downs and that’s life..Karma…yada, yada.” Even after Wake Forest receivers continually pushed off, I didn’t say a thing.

But Sunday afternoon’s game against #1 Purdue was horsesh*t.

Purdue’s guards were continually pushing off. Could have probably added a couple more travel calls. Four separate times, State players got hit while shooting, ending up on the floor, and NOTHING. But we have two instances which are mind blowing to me…

The Inbound Non-Technical

With 2.1 seconds left and State inbounding in the offensive end, this happened.

Hayes’ inbound pass hit the line and the ball was turned over. No review. Nothing. Even though, not only did the Purdue player touch the ball, BUT HIS FOOT WAS ON THE LINE PRIOR TO THE PASS. Which in the wonderful sport of basketball, is a technical.

Here is where I show that I’m an honest man. How Hayes didn’t even say or do anything is kind of crazy to me. The ref AND Hayes missed the 9 foot dude with size 32 shoes touching the ball and stepping on the line?!

The Non-Goaltending

With State down five and needing to get points on the board, Seabron drove to the hoop…and this happened…

I don’t care that the shot wasn’t going to go in…THIS IS GOALTENDING. Now State is down three with 2:16 to go, instead, Purdue goes down to score again and the game is over.

It’s just so upsetting that State went to Brooklyn and played a hell of a game and this all happens. Could we still have missed the free throws or lost even with the Seabron layup? Sure.Should we have just won it on our own terms, 1000%. But damn, I don’t need to have refs single-handedly disrupt big moments.

F the refs.
