Which Recruits were at NC State Football’s 1st Junior Day This Past Weekend?

NC State’s Football team hosted a slew of recruits for their first 2025 Junior Day this past weekend. They will be hosting another one this upcoming weekend. Here’s a rundown of some of the prominent recruits that were on campus.

4-Star Running Back Favour Akih (6’0″/190) – ON3 ranks Akih as the #77 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, the #7 Running Back and the #5 player in the state of Ohio. NC State offered Akih on January 7th, and he also holds offers from Michigan St., Pitt, Penn St., Iowa St., USC, Miami, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana and others. This past Fall, Akih rushed for 1,653 yards and 20 touchdowns for Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio.

4-Star EDGE Zavion Griffin-Haynes (6’6″/230) – ON3 ranks Griffin-Haynes as the #133 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, the #15 EDGE and the #10 player in the state of North Carolina. He plays right down the road at Rolesville High School. Griffin-Haynes was formerly verbally committed to UNC, but decommitted after Mack Brown was fired. Griffin-Haynes holds offers from UNC, NC State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M, Auburn, Tennessee, Penn St., FSU, Notre Dame, Miami, Washington, Duke, Nebraska, Mississippi St., Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Missouri, Michigan, Alabama and others. NC State offered him on April 24th of last year. As a Junior this Fall, he had 84 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks .

4-Star Tight End Lincoln Watkins (6’4″/225) – Rivals ranks Watkins as the #7 overall player in the state of Michigan in the 2026 recruiting class, and the #15 Tight End nationally. NC State offered him on January 4th, and he also holds offers from Purdue, Penn St., Maryland, Illinois, Nebraska, Louisville, Oregon, Miami, Kansas, Boston College, Minnesota, Arizona St., Wisconsin and others. Wolfpack Tight Ends Coach Gavin Locklear was in to see him last week before he visited. Last season, Watkins had 39 receptions for 668 yards, 39 rushes for 245 yards, 42 total tackles and 17 touchdowns for Port Huron Northern High School.

4-Star Cornerback Jalen Williams (6’4″165) – Rivals ranks Williams as the #18 Cornerback nationally in the 2026 recruiting class. Williams plays for Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. NC State offered him on January 17th, and he also holds offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Kansas, Duke, UNC, Arizona St., BYU, Pitt, UCF, Missouri and others. This season, he had 39 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 6 pass breakups.

3-Star Defensive End Damaad Lewis (6’4″/245) – 247Sports ranks Lewis as the #18 overall player in North Carolina in the 2026 recruiting class. He picked up an offer from the Wolfpack while he was on campus. Lewis also holds offers from Washington, Nevada, Cal, USC, Minnesota, App St., Texas, Georgia Tech and others. He plays for Ballantyne Ridge in Charlotte.

3-Star Athlete KD Cotton (5’10″/175) – ON3 ranks Cotton as the #39 overall player in the state of North Carolina in the 2026 recruiting class. He plays for West Charlotte High School. NC State offered him on the 23rd, and he quickly scheduled a visit. On November 2nd, he released a Top-5 that included Virginia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest, Ole Miss and Kentucky.

3-Star Offensive Tackle Ben Mubenga (6’5″/280) – NC State offered Mubenga on December 26th, and he also holds offers from Auburn, LSU, Oregon, Missouri, West Virginia, Purdue, Pitt, Miami, Arkansas and others.

3-Star Running Back CJ Givers (5’11″/195) – NC State offered Gives on May 7th of last year, and he also holds offers from Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kansas St., Boston College, SMU, Minnesota, Indiana, Ole Miss, Stanford and others. Givers had 151 carries for 1403 rushing yards, 9.3 yards per carry and 21 touchdowns for Fellowship Christian School in Milton, Georgia.
