After falling in dramatic fashion to Stetson in Game 1 of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, NC State rebounded with a 12-0 win over Central Connecticut State in Game 2 of the Auburn Regional.

Sophomore Ryan Marohn was sensational, picking up his 8th win of the season with 8 scoreless innings, striking out 10 — the most since March 9th, when he struck out 14 Wright State batters. Marohn has had a fabulous sophomore campaign, boasting an 8-3 record with a 3.09 ERA.

Three Wolfpack batters hit home runs, contributing to 7 of NC State’s 12 runs. Sophomore catcher Alex Sosa got things started with a 2-RBI home run in the top of the 1st. He finished the day 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, 2 walks, and 3 runs.

Freshman third baseman Ryder Woodson started the third game of his collegiate career and capitalized on it, hitting a 2-run home run in the top of the 4th. Woodson will always remember hitting his first collegiate home run in the NCAA Tournament. For the day, Woodson was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI, 1 run, a home run, and a double.

Sophomore second baseman Luke Nixon hit the third home run for the Wolfpack in the top of the 9th, bringing 3 runs across the plate.

Junior left fielder Josh Hogue’s batting average is up to .322 after going 2 for 4 yesterday. He also had 2 runs, an RBI, and a walk.

NC State will play Stetson this afternoon at 3 p.m. in their third game of the Regional. Auburn defeated Stetson 8-5 yesterday.

The winner of today’s matchup will go on to play Auburn and would have to beat the Tigers twice to advance to the Super Regionals.
