New York pitcher Max Fried won’t pitch in the All-Star Game due to the quick turnaround after being scheduled to pitch tomorrow. As a result, another Yankee — former NC State All-American Carlos Rodon — has been named to the All-Star team.

Rodon entered tonight’s contest with a 9-6 record, a 3.30 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 127 strikeouts in 111.2 innings. Prior to the first pitch tonight, Rodon was tied for the third-most wins in the American League, 12th in ERA, seventh in WHIP, and fourth in strikeouts.

This evening, Rodon pitched eight shutout innings against the Cubs, striking out eight and bringing his ERA down to 3.08.

This marks the third time that Rodon has made the All-Star team.

The two-time All-American ranks second in NC State history in career MLB wins, fourth in ERA among starting pitchers, and first in strikeouts.
