Former NC State Outfielder Jake Bechtel is Transferring to UNC-Wilmington

Former NC State Outfielder Jake Bechtel announced yesterday that he is transferring to UNC-Wilmington.

Outfielder Jake Bechtel saw action in 11 games (6 starts) as a True Freshman in 2023, producing a .063 batting average. Bechtel only played in 4 games this past season as a Sophomore, going 1 for 4.

Coming out of high school, Perfect Game ranked him as the 25th-best outfield prospect and 133rd-ranked prospect overall in the state of Florida.

He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Also, I failed to report that Outfielder Trey Bentley announced he was transferring to USC Upstate on July 11th.

Bentley didn’t see the field this past season as a True Freshman. Coming out of high school, he was rated as the 49th best Outfielder in the state of Florida by Perfect Game.

He has 4 years of eligibility remaining.

14 NC State players entered the transfer portal this offseason. 11 have found new homes.
