Entering last week, the NC State Men’s Soccer team was ranked 2nd nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. After defeating William & Mary (7-0) and Boston College (2-0), the Wolfpack (7-0-1) had a clear path to the #1 spot after Wake Forest, the team at the top, lost 6-3 to Virginia on Friday night.

The Week 5 United Soccer Coaches Poll was released today, and it’s official…

NC STATE IS RANKED #1 IN THE NATION!!!!!

NC State isn’t simply winning soccer games…they are dominating. The Wolfpack is the only team in the NCAA who hasn’t allowed a single goal this season (8 matches). NC State ranks 2nd nationally in scoring offense, averaging 3.12 goals per game. Junior Donavan Phillip’s 12 goals lead the nation.

Four weeks ago, NC State broke into the Top-10 for the first time since 2018, landing at No. 8. The Wolfpack ended last season ranked 14th in the United Soccer Coaches Poll in Marc Hubbard’s first year as head coach.

NC State was ranked 5th nationally for two weeks (marking the highest ranking in program history), before jumping up to #2 last week.

The Wolfpack’s only game this week is a road game on Friday night at Pittsburgh at 7:30pm on ACC Network.
