Senior Nose Tackle Brandon Cleveland met with the media for his postgame press conference after NC State’s loss at Pitt yesterday. You can listen to the interview above, and read the transcript below.

What was it like coming off the opening week? A lot of the time you guys focused a lot on the details, but it just didn’t seem like it translated as much onto the field.

I mean, we studied ourselves, focused on what we’re good at and trying to fix the things we’re bad at, but, as you can see, we just didn’t execute.

What were some of the things Pitt did that that surprised you?

Nothing really. I mean, the coaches prepared us to come out here and play. We just didn’t execute. Coaches put us in good positions, put us in good plays, put us in good coverages, put us in good blitz, but we just didn’t execute.

It’s as simple as that. Just didn’t execute.

What was their offensive line able to do to keep you guys from getting in the backfield a lot? The quarterback was sacked seven times last week, and you guys weren’t able to get back to them.

Well, I don’t know.

We’ve just got to be better. It’s on us, because at D-line, we’ve got to get more pressure.

Did the Quarterback scrambling surprise you all?

No.

It’s football.

The defense had eight of the nine penalties today.

We came in this week thinking that it was a more undisciplined team, and obviously that didn’t show tonight, and we were the more undisciplined team. We just beat ourselves.

You guys have four games left. What’s the approach and mindset for this month?

I mean, our goal is to win all the games. We’re going to learn from this game, put it to bed and just keep improving. I mean, no one’s going to quit. That’s not our team. That’s not our culture. So we’re going to keep fighting.
