NC State’s Devon Marshall was Robbed a Spot on the All-ACC Teams

The 2025 All-ACC Teams came out, and NC State senior cornerback Devon Marshall’s name was nowhere to be found.

That’s criminal.

Marshall is the second-highest graded cornerback in the ACC according to PFF, with a grade of 88.8. His 15 pass breakups lead the ACC, and his total passes defended (17), including two interceptions, rank second.

Hezekiah Masses of Cal and Avieon Terrell of Clemson earned spots on the Official First Team. Masses leads the ACC in passes defended (18), ranks second in interceptions (5), and ranks eighth in PFF grade. Terrell ranks tied for sixth in passes defended (9) with zero interceptions, and ranks fifth in overall PFF grade.

Miami’s Keionte Scott and Duke’s Chandler Rivers were named to the Second Team. Scott ranks 24th in passes defended but is the highest-graded cornerback in the ACC (90.3). Rivers’ PFF grade ranks ninth in the ACC, and he is tied for fourth in passes defended.

Wake Forest’s Karon Prunty and Cal’s Brent Austin earned spots on the Third Team. Prunty is tied for the sixth-most passes defended and has the third-best PFF grade. Austin has the third-most passes defended and ranks fourth in PFF grade.

I know eight of Marshall’s pass defenses came in one game against FSU, but even if you took those away, he would still be tied for third.

If someone ranks in the top three in both passes defended and overall PFF grade, and isn’t considered one of the six best cornerbacks in the ACC, that’s problematic.

Do you want to know what’s even more problematic?

Six other cornerbacks not named Devon Marshall earned All-ACC Honorable Mention.

That means the ACC media thought there were 12 cornerbacks better than Devon Marshall this season.

Laughable.
