NC State Redshirt Linebacker Elijah Groves will be entering the Transfer Portal.

Groves never played a snap for the Wolfpack in two years in Raleigh.

He was a 4-star prospect in NC State’s 2024 recruiting class, who flipped his commitment from Kentucky two years ago this month. Purdue was also in his Top-3.

Groves was one of the highest ranked players to commit to NC State in the recruiting database era. It’s not every day a Top-100 player commits to run with the Wolfpack. 247Sports ranked Groves as the #93 overall player notionally in the 2024 recruiting class, the #7 Linebacker and the #1 player in the state of Tennessee.

As a Senior, Groves finished with 76 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.

He has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Groves is the 6th NC State player to enter the Transfer Portal, joining Wide Receiver Christian Zachary, Running Back Hollywood Smothers, Defensive End Justin Terrell, Defensive End Josh Alexander-Felton and Offensive Lineman Val Erickson.

The Portal officially opens on January 2nd.
