NC State’s women’s basketball team picked up a thrilling road win on Saturday, defeating Virginia 78-76 in overtime in Charlottesville.

The Wolfpack appeared to be in control early, building a 16-point lead in the first half. Despite shooting slightly worse than Virginia in the opening 20 minutes, NC State entered the break with a comfortable advantage thanks to an +8 edge in points off turnovers.

Virginia flipped the momentum in the second half.

The Cavaliers outscored NC State 29-18 in the fourth quarter, shooting an impressive 55% from the field and 56% from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack struggled offensively, shooting just 34% from the floor and 20% from deep in the second half, allowing UVA to force overtime.

That’s when Zoe Brooks took over.

The junior guard delivered a career performance, scoring 37 points – the ninth-most in a single game in program history. Brooks went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in overtime, accounting for half of NC State’s points in the extra period. In total, she went 19-for-20 at the stripe, setting new program records for both free throws made and attempted in a single game.

Brooks also led the team with five assists, showcasing complete control of the offense when it mattered most.

Junior forward Khamil Pierre recorded her 12th double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Zam Jones had an off shooting night but still chipped in 14 points to help steady the offense.

With the win, NC State improves to 14-6 overall and 7-2 in ACC play, currently sitting third in the conference standings.

The Wolfpack will look to carry the momentum north on Thursday night when they face Boston College at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network.
