No. 17 NC State wasted no time taking control Sunday, exploding for six runs in the first two innings and cruising to a 13–0 win over Sacred Heart in a seven-inning run-rule victory. The NC State offense was once again electric and has set a program record with 90 runs over the past 5 games.

The Wolfpack set the tone immediately.

Luke Nixon opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run blast to deep right field, his first home run of the season, scoring Ty Head and giving the Pack an early 2–0 edge.

An inning later, the floodgates opened.

Mikey Ryan launched his third homer of the season to left-center to make it 3–0. From there, NC State strung together quality at-bats and took advantage of free passes. Nixon drew a bases-loaded walk, Sherman Johnson ripped a two-run single to center, and by the time the second inning ended, the Wolfpack had built a commanding 6–0 lead.

They weren’t done.

NC State added four more runs in the fifth, highlighted by another RBI single from Johnson and a two-run knock up the middle from Wyatt Peifer. Ryan chipped in with an RBI groundout, pushing the lead to 10–0.

The Pack tacked on three more in the sixth — all coming without a hit. Bases-loaded walks from Rett Johnson and Devin Mitchell, followed by a hit-by-pitch to Quinn Bentley, stretched the advantage to 13–0 and officially put the run rule in sight.

On the mound, Cooper Consiglio was in complete control. The left-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five to earn the win. He worked around three walks and never allowed Sacred Heart to mount a serious threat.

This was Consiglio’s second great outing and first win of the season. He was a tough luck loser vs. Princeton in a game where he went 6 innings, gave up 2 hits, and struck out 8.

Aiden Kitchings and Ryder Garino combined to finish off the final two innings, surrendering just one hit between them to preserve the shutout.

NC State totaled 13 runs on 10 hits, drawing 11 walks and capitalizing on patient at-bats throughout the afternoon. Nixon and Johnson each drove in three runs, while Ryan crossed the plate twice and continued his strong early-season power surge.

It was a complete performance from the Wolfpack, early offense, disciplined at-bats, and dominant pitching, as NC State improved to 11-1 on the season with #9-ranked Coastal Carolina (D1 baseball rankings) coming into town next week.
