NC State Climbs in 2 of 3 Top-25 Baseball Rankings After 5-0 Week

After going 5-0 at home last week, NC State (10-1) saw positive movement in 2 of 3 Top-25 baseball rankings released this morning. The Wolfpack defeated Richmond (27-0) and Akron (18-3) in midweek games, and swept Sacred Heart this weekend.

Across those five games, NC State outscored opponents 90-12.

The offense is humming, and the national polls are taking notice.

D1Baseball

NC State moved up 1 spot in D1Baseball’s Top-25 rankings, landing at #13. They are the third highest ranked team in the ACC.

The Wolfpack is ranked 16th in Baseball America’s rankings this week, falling 1 spot from last week. NC State is the 5th highest ranked team in the ACC.

Results

The Wolfpack put together another explosive offensive week with a 27-0 win over Richmond and 18-3 win over Akron in midweeks and 17-4, 15-5 and 13-0 victories over Sacred Heart over the weekend. NC State is averaging 12.9 runs per game over its first 11 contests.

Standout Performer

Junior Sherman Johnson, a transfer from McLennan Community College, went 11-for-17 with a triple, a home run and 12 RBIs while striking out once and walking three times in Week 3. Johnson now leads the Wolfpack with a .556 batting average. (BA)

Perfect Game

NC State made the biggest jump in Perfect Game’s rankings, leaping 6 spots to #14.

At 10-1 and averaging nearly 13 runs per game, the Wolfpack are quickly building one of the nation’s most dangerous offensive profiles early in the 2026 season.
