The No. 13 NC State Wolfpack (now 14-2 overall) secured the series victory over Lafayette (1-9) with a commanding 14-4 run-rule win in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park in Raleigh. This marked the Pack’s fifth run-rule victory of the young season, bouncing back strong to win the series after splitting the first two games.

Pitching Highlight: Starter Cooper Consiglio (2-1) delivered another gem, tossing 6 strong innings. He allowed just 4 hits, 2 runs (only 1 earned), walked 2, and struck out 8 on 84 pitches (55 strikes). His ERA dropped to a stellar 1.06, which is great news for the Wolfpack who wanted to see Consiglio bounce back this season after his struggles last year.

Offensive Explosion: The Wolfpack had 12 hits, drew 8 walks, and launched 3 home runs while scoring in bunches from the third inning onward. Lafayette managed only 6 hits and committed 1 error.

Standout Performances:

    • Preston Bonn (C) had a career day in his second start: 3-for-3, 4 runs scored, 5 RBI, 2 home runs (a solo shot in the 3rd to deep left, and a massive three-run blast in the 6th), plus a bases-loaded walk and a double. The redshirt freshman catcher was the clear star, driving in runs and setting the tone.

    • Luke Nixon (2B): 1-for-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI, 1 triple (key in the 5th), 2 walks — constant threat on the bases.
    • Brandon Novy (PH): Delivered the walk-off mercy-rule run with a solo home run to deep center (estimated 440 feet, his second of the season) in the bottom of the 7th.

  • Other contributors: Rett Johnson (LF) 2-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI; Mikey Ryan (SS) 1-for-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Chris McHugh (1B) 2-for-4, 1 RBI; Ty Head (CF) drove in 2 RBI despite going 0-for-4 (via walk and fielder’s choice).
