Sophomore Guard Paul McNeil Jr. drilled 6 three pointers yesterday in NC State’s 81-74 loss to Virginia in the Quarterfinals of the 2026 ACC Tournament, bringing his season total to 102, becoming only the 4th player in school history to make 100+ three pointers in a single season.

With the Wolfpack most likely to earn an at-large bid in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, McNeil Jr. has a good chance to break DJ Horne’s single season record of 105 made three pointers.

NC State Single-Season Three-Point Leaders

1. DJ Horne (2023-24) – 105
2. Scott Wood (2012-13) – 104
2. Rodney Monroe (1990-91) – 104
4. Paul McNeil Jr. (2025-26) – 102
5. Terquavion Smith (2021-22) – 96
6. Scott Wood (2011-12) – 95

Beyond sheer volume, McNeil Jr.’s efficiency is top shelf. McNeil Jr. could become only the 5th player in NC State history to lead the conference in three-point percentage over a full season. Currently he is leading the ACC with a three-point percentage of 42.9%.

NC State Players who Have Led the ACC in 3-Point Percentage

Terry Gannon (1983)
Rodney Monroe (1990)
CC Harrison (1998)
Scott Wood (2013)

Earlier this season, McNeil Jr. already etched his name into the record books by drilling 11 three-pointers against Texas Southern, breaking NC State’s single-game record and tying the ACC single-game record set by Dennis Scott.
