NC State (20-10) earned a spot in the 2026 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament for the ninth consecutive season last night.

The Wolfpack received a #7 seed and will face #10 seed Tennessee (16-13) in the first round on Friday at 8 PM.

If NC State advances past the Lady Vols, #2 seed Michigan will likely be waiting in the second round. The Wolverines will serve as the host site for the first two rounds of the tournament.

NC State’s nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances mark the longest streak in program history.

Season Rematch

NC State already faced Tennessee earlier this season in the season opener, defeating the Lady Vols 90-87 at the Greensboro Invitational in a neutral-site matchup.

This will also mark the second time the two programs have met in the NCAA Tournament.

The Wolfpack defeated Tennessee 79-72 in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Series History

All-time, NC State is 5-12 against Tennessee.
