NC State continues to add talent through the Transfer Portal.

The Wolfpack picked up another commitment today, landing Texas outfielder Maddox Monsour after one season with the Longhorns.

While Monsour’s freshman statistics won’t jump off the page, his pedigree as a prospect makes him one of the more intriguing additions of the offseason.

Freshman Season at Texas

Monsour appeared in 36 games for Texas during his freshman campaign, making 14 starts.

He finished the season batting .185 while striking out 27 times compared to six walks.

It wasn’t the debut season he had hoped for, but earning playing time as a true freshman for one of college baseball’s premier programs is no small accomplishment.

Now he’ll look for a fresh start in Raleigh under new head coach Chris Hart.

Highly Regarded Recruit

Before arriving at Texas, Monsour was considered one of the top prospects in the country.

Perfect Game ranked him as:

No. 228 overall prospect nationally
No. 47 outfielder nationally
No. 16 overall player in Georgia
No. 6 outfielder in Georgia

Those rankings highlight the type of upside NC State believes it is adding.

Outstanding High School Career

Monsour was one of Georgia’s most productive high school players.

As a senior, he batted .355 while stealing a school-record 37 bases.

Over his varsity career, he compiled:

.371 batting average
1.192 OPS
School-record 37 stolen bases as a senior

His combination of speed and athleticism made him one of the most coveted outfielders in the 2025 recruiting class.

A Classic Buy-Low Addition

Not every transfer portal addition arrives after an All-American season.

Sometimes the best pickups are former blue-chip recruits looking for a fresh opportunity.

That’s exactly what NC State hopes Monsour becomes.

The physical tools that made him a coveted recruit haven’t disappeared. The Wolfpack coaching staff will now try to unlock the potential that made him one of the nation’s top outfield prospects just two years ago.
