#10 NC State (17-4) rolled past the UNCW (14-7) on the road yesterday in a 14-2 run-rule victory, piling up runs early and often in a game that felt decided by the middle innings.

NC State dropped 4 runs in the 2nd, 4 more in the 3rd, and then slammed the door with 6 combined runs in the 5th and 6th innings.

McHugh Powers the Pack

If there was a conductor for this offensive orchestra, it was Chris McHugh. The junior first baseman went 2-for-3 with a home run, driving in 6 runs on the day.

McHugh now leads the team with 29 RBI and is tied for the team lead with 7 home runs, while hitting a scorching .402.

Bats Stay Hot Across the Lineup

McHugh wasn’t the only Wolfpack player to stay hot yesterday.

  • Brandon Novy (DH): 3 RBI, HR (2nd in last 3 games)
  • Rett Johnson (LF): 2-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 runs, 2 walks (.441 AVG)
  • Brayden Fraasman (RF): 4-for-5, 2 RBI (.356 AVG)

Harris Earns First Career Win

On the mound, freshman Sam Harris quietly delivered a strong outing in relief.

  • 3 innings pitched
  • 1 run allowed
  • First career win

Next Up: A True Test

Now comes the measuring stick.

The Wolfpack will head to Tallahassee this weekend for a marquee matchup against #11 Florida State, their toughest test of the season to date.
