Matt Brown of Extra Points recently released a breakdown of operating budgets across college basketball, ranking programs by total spending for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

NC State checked in at #36 nationally.

That number gives some helpful context when evaluating where the Wolfpack stands compared to other programs across the country, especially in a sport where resources matter more than ever.

What the Numbers Include

The data reflects each school’s total operating expenses for men’s basketball in FY25 (July 2024 – June 2025), as reported through the NCAA’s Membership Financial Reporting System.

Included in those figures:

  • Coaching and staff salaries
  • Scholarships
  • Travel
  • Recruiting
  • Equipment
  • General program expenses

What the Numbers Do NOT Include

It’s just as important to understand what’s not in these totals.

The following are not included:

  • NIL payments
    Athlete revenue sharing
    House settlement distributions

In other words, this is a look at the traditional program infrastructure, not the full modern financial picture of college basketball.
