According to Joe Tipton of On3, former NC State guard Matt Able has narrowed his list down to seven schools:

Baylor, UNC, Stanford, UCLA, Miami, Virginia, and UConn.

Before news broke that Able would enter the portal, there was early buzz that Miami could be the likely destination. However, it’s clear he’s taking a thorough approach to the process.

One notable detail – four of the seven schools are ACC programs, including UNC just down the road in Chapel Hill.

Able served as NC State’s sixth man this season, averaging 21.8 minutes per game off the bench. As a freshman, he averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 41.6% from the field and 35.5% from three-point range.

Coming out of high school, Able was a consensus 4-star prospect out of Sagemont Prep. Rivals ranked him as the No. 19 overall player nationally, the No. 6 shooting guard, and the No. 3 player in the state of Florida in the 2025 class.

At the transfer level, both Rivals and 247Sports rate Able as a 4-star prospect. Rivals ranks him as the No. 29 overall player in the portal and the No. 9 shooting guard, while 247Sports lists him at No. 45 overall and No. 5 at his position.
