Travis Barnham, a very connected national analyst for 247 Sports, has logged a prediction that Maryland’s Darius Adams will choose NC State.

We reported this afternoon that Adams was on campus today, and explained last night how we believed he’d fit with the current roster in our ‘roster breakdown‘.

Remember, Adams is a former 5-star recruit who committed to UConn as a senior before switching to Maryland after UConn made portal pickups at his position.

Adams made an immediate impact as a freshman with the Terrapins, averaging 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He was thrust into a significant role early on with Maryland suffering a bunch of early-season injuries. He started 28 of 33 games while averaging 25.6 minutes per contest.

But his efficiency (35.4% FG, 24.8% 3PT) wasn’t all that great, and I think it’s safe to assume that Maryland was forced to ask a little too much from Adams as a true freshman. But this is also what is helping keep his price in NC State’s range. However, if watch him, you know that the skill set is real. He’s a long, tall, athletic guard with great balance, footwork, and touch. He’s crafty and has a little Quadir Copeland to his game. With Edmead and Hammond already signed, Adams was one of my favorite fits left in the portal at the guard position. Huge ceiling and elite pedigree who just wasn’t able to put it together last year.

So how likely is it that Travis Barnham gets this prediction right? Well, so far in 2027, he’s 237 for 253 for a pretty impressive 93.68%. And over his career, he’s been right 94.46% of the time.

We’ll have to wait and see, but in the portal era, if you’re right 94% of the time, then you’re probably getting some pretty good information from somewhere.

This is something to keep a close eye on over the next 24 hours.
