49ers Sign NC State WR Wesley Grimes as UDFA

NC State wide receiver Wesley Grimes has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers.

Grimes wrapped up his senior season with 29 receptions for 430 yards and 3 touchdowns, serving as a vertical threat in the Wolfpack offense.

What makes him especially intriguing at the next level is his speed. Grimes was clocked at a blazing 4.24 in the 40-yard dash during summer workouts at NC State leading into last season, a number that will turn heads in any NFL building.

Over the course of his four-year college career, two seasons at Wake Forest and two at NC State, Grimes totaled 77 receptions for 1,122 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The 49ers are taking a flier on elite speed, hoping they’ve found a sleeper who can stretch the field and create explosive plays.
