WATCH: Quadir Copeland EXPLODES for 24 points in final NBA Summer League outing

Quadir Copeland is making the most of his NBA opportunity with the Houston Rocket’s summer league squad.

Q has been outstanding so far, but he saved the best for his finale, dropping 24 points on 9-13 shooting, dishing out 3 assists, grabbing 2 boards, and adding 2 steals.

While this is easily his best game of the summer league, he’s been consistent throughout. Here are his averages:

Q finished up averaging 13.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.2 steals, and 2.0 turnovers per game across his five Summer League appearances.

But the thing that’s going to have NBA scouts excited is his efficiency. He went 22-of-39 from the field (56.4%) and 6-of-11 from three-point range (54.5%). The knock on Q was his shooting, but if he can keep this up, he’ll have no problems catching on long-term with either the Rockets or another NBA team.

As for contracts, right now Copeland is on a 2-way deal with the Rockets, but Q is hoping to prove himself this season and get on a full contract with them. Here is a little breakdown of what a 2-way deal means.

What is an NBA Two-Way Contract?
A two-way contract is a special NBA deal that allows teams to develop promising young players (usually undrafted or fringe prospects) without a full roster commitment. Key points:

Roster spots : NBA teams have 15 standard roster spots + up to 3 two-way slots.
Time split: Players primarily develop with the team’s G League affiliate but can be called up to the NBA team.
NBA games limit: They can play in up to 50 regular-season NBA games per year.
Pay: He’ll get $679K (half the rookie minimum). This money does not count against the NBA team’s salary cap, making it very team-friendly.
Flexibility: The team can move the player back and forth between NBA and G League throughout the season. Two-way players generally can’t play in the playoffs unless converted to a standard contract.
Duration: Usually 1-2 years and non-guaranteed.

This setup gives Q a real chance to earn a full NBA contract if he can carry this performance into the regular season.
