NC State Freshman Nyheim Hines has been making plays all Fall Camp, but on Saturday he was making plays in Carter-Finley Stadium in the teams first scrimmage.  Stats weren’t distributed after the scrimmage on Saturday, but Dave Doeren and Jacoby Brissett both referenced Hines’ touchdown catch.  I talked with Hines yesterday after practice and he broke down the touchdown reception and what it felt like to finally suit up in the stadium.

“It was a dream come true.  I’ve been an NC State fan my whole life.  I was happy to be there.  I gave the guy a little something off of the line and Jacoby gave me a perfect ball,” said Hines. “It was a perfect throw, so all I had to do was catch it.  It was probably a 30 or 40 yard reception.  It was a deep ball.  He threw it and I ran up under it and caught it in the end zone.”

Hines thought the offense looked great on Saturday, but when asked what he thought about his individual performance, he repeatedly cited the need to keep working hard.

“I’ve got to work.  I had some mistakes.  The coaches trusted me. Hopefully I’ll be on the field some this year.  My route technique could have been better,” said Hines. “I believe I ran the wrong route on a play maybe.  I need to watch it on film more.  I’ve seen it, but I need to watch it over and analyze it.  I’ve just got to keep working to do what I can do best, and be the best Nyheim Hines.”

Hines is working hard.  He’s doing everything he can to get better every moment he’s awake.  Heck, he’s doing everything he can to get better even when he’s asleep.

“I actually have dreams in my sleep about plays.”  said Hines.
