Quotes

“Jereod Fernandez and I are both way more comfortable.  I think we’re going to have a pretty good year.”

“I think we all have a better grasp of the concepts that Coach Huxtable is teaching this year.  I think that last year a lot of people were young.  This year we have the experience that we needed last year.  I think the experience factor and having a better understanding of what Coach wants us to do is really going to help us this year.”

“I went back and watched film with Rodman Noel.  He’s just a really smart player and understood concepts that Coach Hux is teaching.  I really tried to grasp the whole defense, because last year I came in right at the beginning of Fall Camp.  That’s been the biggest thing I have been working on, is having an understanding of the whole defense.  I think the fact that I know “Mike” linebacker, helps me know “Will” linebacker.”

“I think everyone knows that Jaylen Samuels is a playmaker.  He catches the ball.  He runs the ball.  He’s probably one of the most fun players to watch on our team.  He’s also one of the better players to go against, in regards to competition.  I think he’s going to have a pretty big impact this year.”

“You do get to blitz more as the “Will” Linebacker.  I worked on that this summer, so hopefully I’ll make some plays on the blitzes.”

“Coach Huxtable really preaches being in your gap.  I think because we all understand the concepts that he is teaching better, we will be in a better place to stop the run.”

“I met Coach Tramain (Hall) when I was in 7th grade.  I didn’t really know that he went to NC State at that time.  He really helped me understand what it takes to be the best. You have to outwork everyone.  It’s not about just going out there and performing.  It’s about putting in the preparation.  I feel like that’s the biggest thing he taught me.  I still talk to him now.  He’s been through this process, so I talk to him about things that athletes go through, and he he has really helped me through this process.”

“We all got to play last year pretty much.  I feel like you can’t use the word inexperienced.  You can say that we’re young, but we do have experience as a group.  I feel like we can’t use that as an excuse.”
